Return of the King is a long movie. God, does it ever drag in some parts. But I love it, because it was good, and made me want to make a "Pervy Hobbit Fancier" t-shirt. I will post nothing further for fear of someone stumbling across this before they've seen the movie and being spoilered. Oh, but one more thing...

Tidus, and the People Who Hate Him.

Please note (if anyone happens to be reading this) that this contains FFX spoilers! So if you haven't beaten Final Fantasy X yet, I suggest you avert your innocent eyes.

Ready? Good!

For the longest time I simply refused to play Final Fantasy X. I never liked VIII, and I had found IX to be disappointing, so my logical thought process went from there:

If VIII = bad, and IX = worse... then X must be one terrible game!

It's not really what you'd call flawed logic, now is it? I had seen a downward trend in the previous Final Fantasy games, and I expected it to continue, what with this newfangled cinema style and docile-looking heroine. So I refused to play it. I sat down with Grandia 2 and Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter and yes, even Kingdom Hearts, but I refused to purchase or even rent FFX.

That changed recently when I got a job at GameStop. I decided that I'd go ahead and be a good little local RPG expert and play the damned game, since employees are allowed to check out a game for a few days, so they're able to accurately tell the customer what it's like.

Guess what? I bought the thing.

It's a fun game. Ridiculously so. I despise Blitzball, but once you're past the initial game you can ignore it. Yuna is a wonderful heroine; she's kind, but strong, and best of all she doesn't whine and/or cling to Tidus.

And that's who I really want to talk about. Tidus. The main character of FFX. In my search for information on FFX, I found an opinion that many people seem to share: Tidus is A Wanker and easy to hate. So I (being easily influenced by popular opinion, ha-ha) figured that Tidus must really be band in order to incur all these nice people's wrath.

Tidus wasn't what I was expecting. Instead of an irritating wanker I found a genuinely human character, with feelings and flaws and other such human nuances. He's a kind guy, but not cloying; tough, but not stoic; light-hearted, but not corny. Well, not ALWAYS corny.

To say the least, I like him, and I feel it's too bad that such a neat character has been given such a bad rep. So let's give Tidus a little support, eh?
